Postal Nation

Our newest Postal fan!

Congrats to Postal 2/AW animator Geoff Neale and his wife Megan for pushing little Braedon Anthony out into the world on July 12! We fully expect to see the little sportsman rapelling into secret Taliban hives just as soon as a small enough pair of nightvision goggles can be found...

P2 programmer Nathan Fouts said it best: "Good shot!"

Highlight site of the Month: Do yourself a favor and check out the hysterically funny one-sheet movie poster-gone Postal spoofs at http://www.resurrection-studios.com – it's a great site with lots of other stuff worth checking out.

And speaking of art, POSTAL fan and artiste Mike McCumber has produced his own, unique POSTAL shirt. As always, we encourage our fans to express themselves artistically – you never know, we might wind up in business together.

Anyway, now that we're speaking of shirts and Mikes, we got a letter from Mr. and Mrs. Mike Swedelson who maintain a wilderness retreat that would make Ted Nugent green with envy called Sky High Ranch. They ordered a POSTAL T-shirt, thinking it was navy blue (somehow, that's the color it looked on their computer) instead of black. Of course they were taken care of (heh heh) when Vince comped them on the shirt, but because they were thoughtful enough to enclose a photo of themselves looking ready to take on anything, we decided to make them our POSTAL Couple of the Month! (You can visit these POSTAL fans and find out more about their wilderness retreat at www.skyhighranch.com , by the way).

Lots of letters this month from around the world. First, Stone Cold Spider 3:16 (who might, just might be a fan of professional wrestling) wrote the following with regard to Apocalypse Weekend :

"The game is really awesome. There was just one thing that I didn't like that much about it... it [didn't use] free form roaming gameplay as in the original POSTAL2. The game led you through the missions like the game was on rails with very limited chances to actually go wandering and cause major damage with the cool new weapons.

"Besides that, though, the game is really good and I really enjoyed playing it. The zombies were heaps of fun to take down and the Pigeon Relocation mission was an absolute scream – I laughed so hard I almost split my sides during the video with you [ Vince ] in it. Then it cuts back to the game with blood everywhere and feathers falling from the sky. It looked like an awesome mission. :P

"Also the final video clip with the Postal Dude and Champ in the car showing the mushroom cloud in the background along with the "I regret nothing" was a great touch and leaves the series open for POSTAL3 (Please, please make POSTAL3 free form like the original P2 and not on rails like AW). "By the way, what did the blue shirts with the L.A.M.E on them stand for? It was not explained in the game.

"Anyway, I gave it a 9 out of 10. (Lost 1 point for not having the free form roaming gameplay)"

Since Spider is a long-time fan, we checked with Postalmeister "Wicked" Steve Wik and asked him straight up: "So? What the hell DOES 'L.A.M.E.' stand for?" Typically, he didn't remember, but here's what he did have to say by way of adding to the confusion: "I forget… I had a dozen or so variations on what that meant... I only remember "Ladies Against Manhandling Ecology". Since it was "Ladies", we made all the male LAME members have gay voices...

"There were prolly better ones though..."

Cool. Also, Steve , while I'm only guessing at this, I picked up a subtle vibe to the effect that Spider would prefer free roaming gameplay in the future. Of course, I'm probably reading him all wrong…

Our next correspondence comes all the way from Norway ! Stian Hokstad just got his copy of AW and, well, let's let him tell us what he thinks of it:

"I must say it is a work of art. I love it. I got it just last day and now I am doing the game for the sixth time. I love it and I will NEVER stop playing it. Thanx to all of you who work at Running With Scissors for making such extremely good games. And I would also say thanks to Rick Hunter Who has the Postal Dude's voice. The weather here sucks by the way, but I shall send you some pics of nice and lovely Viking babes. And a picture of me maybe.

"I love the game, Vince, you should get an award for it! It is one of the world's 8 wonders!"

You know, I think he liked it! But whatever your thoughts, ideas, suggestions and opinions (we know, Spider, we gotta get off the rails), send em along to info@gopostal.com.

Oh, by the way, a warning to any angels planning to visit Stian in Norway , his email address is rape_all_angels. We thought you should know. Go get those seraphim, Stian!

And that's all for this month. Remember, it's even more fun if you participate! So send us something cool, dammit!
