Hello, first of all, introduce yourself to our readers. What is your main job in the company?
Hi, my name is Vince Desi, I'm part of a company called Running With Scissors, we are the creators of POSTAL. My main job is to get my team pizza and pussy.
How you judge the reaction of the public in the previous game? Do u think that there were some "overreacting" comments for this game? Do u feel more right with games like Manhunt or Singles that recently have released?
POSTAL has always been about humor, comedy, making fun of violence, unfortunately the press has singled us out and made RWS and POSTAL the scapegoat of the video game industry. So its very important to set the record straight in an interview like this. I find games like Manhunt boring, killing for killing sake is not fun and not entertainment to me.
So how the story in this new add-on starts? We know that it's just an add-on but how "changed" the game is?(in short of graphics, etc.)
In Apocalypse Weekend you get to play through Saturday and Sunday, to close out a week in the Postal Dude's life. In POSTAL 2, it was based on Monday to Friday, the Postal Dude had to take care of a list of errands from his bitch wife. In the new expansion pack Apocalypse Weekend you get to blow up a whole town!
it true that the Madcow disease affected you in this new add-on?
We live in the state of Arizona, same as the Postal Dude, we have many ranches here, so its very possible that the entire Running With Scissors team has been infected. Even Gary Coleman gets a little cow in him in Apocalypse Weekend.
The Dude in Postal, is clearly an anti-hero. We see recently that many designers choose their basic characters, to be anti-heroes (for example Riddick). Do u believe that there is a new "morality" in games nowadays? We heard some very good opinions at GDC, from people that saying that the today's games have heroes that are criminals or gangsters. What is your opinion on that and your view in the whole matter?
Game developers take themselves too seriously, they should spend more time designing their games rather than taking credit for the crap they put out that only offers violence. Running With Scissors created the Postal Dude in 1997, the idea is not that he is an anti-hero but a regular guy, all he wants to do is be left alone, and lead a private life, but just like in reality that has become very hard to do. We never pretend or portray the Postal Dude to be a hero.
What is this habit you have with the girl's pics in your site? Many saying it's a bad idea of advertisement, what is your reply on that (the main reason we asking is to take some phones from the girls)
I think you mean photos, or do you want their telephone numbers so you can call them? The Postal Babes are fun, if we cared about advertising we would have made a game about some anti-hero that kills everything and saves the world, we just want to have fun, and what's better than having hot girls.
How you see Gaming Industry evolving nowadays? What was your last best game you played, except you own one: D What about piracy?
There are several interesting factors evolving in the game industry today. First, there are more gamers, people playing video or computer games in the world than ever before. Second, there are more platforms to play games on, computers, consoles, online, mobile, handheld, it just keep getting bigger and bigger all the time. Third and my most important concern is the quality of games being released. In the early days games were fun to play, simple yes but fun. Today to many games suck in my opinion, they may look and sound great but they're not fun to play. Right now my favorite game is a new variation of the classic card game Solitaire.
Will the game feature Multiplayer capabilities?
Apocalypse Weekend is a single player expansion pack to POSTAL 2, if you want mp we have POSTAL 2: Share The Pain.
Is there anything else you want to add for your new game?
Well we are working on POSTAL 3, its always impossible to put all your ideas into one game, so as long as the Postal Dude keeps on smoking and drinking, he will piss his way into a new title.
